What is Stewardship?

Stewardship is the realization that everything we have are gifts on loan to us. Sharing these loaned gifts with others to build up the kingdom of God is a great response of faithful stewardship. These loaned gifts can be grouped under three main areas:

Time        Talent        Treasure

These three are gifts loaned to us to use for His glory. For example, the money we “have” is really a gift from God loaned or entrusted to us. It is really not our own. The same with our “time” and talents”. We are expected to share these gifts to fulfill God’s plan on earth.

A healthy church is anchored by the idea that we are called to share our time, talents, and treasure to glorify God. If we do this, we are only sharing what the Lord has loaned to us in the first place. “Well done good and faithful servant” refers to the talents the Master gave to his servants, asking them to use them for His purpose.

We invite you to partner with us in our mission of magnifying God and multiplying disciples. Your generosity enables us to help more people experience eternal life change. We appreciate your financial contribution and we hope that the simplicity and convenience of being able to do so online is helpful to you.

You may authorize your bank to allow us to deduct a specified amount from your account without having to write a check. You may also use your debit or credit card, just like you pay bills or make purchases online. It’s secure and confidential!

Everything we have is a gift from the Lord. Scripture says that we “know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 8:9) and this refers not only to an informed mind but an inflamed heart. It is an experiential understanding of who Jesus is and what Jesus has done for us.

“…though [Jesus] was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9).

The death and resurrection of Jesus represent the most generous gift ever given–when the King of Glory gave up everything in order to reconcile us to God. Giving cheerfully, sacrificially, and consistently is a part of our worship. When we are generous with others, we remind one another of the great generosity of our good God.

CREDIT DISCLAIMER: If you currently have uncontrolled debt or have had a history of debt problems, please do not use your credit card to tithe or give to the church.

ONLINE GIVING
While we allow the use of credit cards for tithes and offerings, we still strongly encourage the use of electronic funds transfer (bill pay) rather than credit card for two primary reasons:

1) Although many pay off their credit cards each month, many do not. We do not want to encourage someone to go into debt and pay interest on gifts given to the church.

2) With electronic transfer, your entire gift goes to the church. When using a credit card, as much as 3% of your gift can go to the credit card company.

If you would like help setting up bill-pay as your way of contributing, please call the church office (434-845-4600) and someone will be willing to assist you.
